Resources
Everything here is free. Some of it is ours, most of it belongs to the worm community, and all of it is what we would hand a new student on their first day.
Everything about our favorite lifeform
These are the references the lab works from daily.
- WormBase. Genes, alleles, strains and literature. The first place to look.
- WormAtlas. Anatomy, cell by cell, with electron micrographs.
- WormBook. Peer-reviewed chapters covering the biology and the methods.
- WormWiring. The reconstructed connectome, synapse by synapse.
- Textpresso. Full-text search across the C. elegans literature.
- Caenorhabditis Genetics Center. Where strains come from.
- WormWeb connectome viewer. The nervous system as an interactive network.
What we have released
- Behavioral turn analysis. Software for classifying turning strategies, released on Zenodo.
- Animal heading calculator. Code for computing heading from tracked paths.
- Affordable worm tracker. A tracking system costing about thirty dollars, published so classrooms can build one.
- Burrowing assay. The method paper for assessing neuromuscular integrity and burrowing choice.
- RGBCaMP and WINK, the reporter animal and the imaging and kinematics platform, are being prepared for release. Write if you want to use either before then.
For teachers and visitors
- WormTV. Our video channel on C. elegans biology, watched more than 41,000 times.
- Our book for children. Given away at outreach events and available to buy.
- Outreach activities. The four sessions we run, with what each needs and how long it takes.
For people joining the lab
These are the documents a new member reads before starting, and they say what we expect and what you can expect back.
